Creating a space for black-billed gulls
Last Sunday a determined team worked hard fighting against the wild nor’wester and the stubborn lupins to clear an area adjacent to 3000 black billed gulls. At present 1000 are settling on a clean raised shingle area but the rest are settling in the river on very low shingle areas and will be affected by even small freshes.
It was hoped that they might move onto the cleared area. On Monday a few birds were seen checking it out so fingers crossed. We’ll keep you updated.
