Department of Conservation (DOC)

Links in this menu go directly to DOC pages of primary relevance to braided rivers.

The Department of Conservation Te Papa Atawhai is a public service department charged with the conservation of New Zealand’s natural and historical heritage. They are the technical advisors for ‘best practice‘ management of braided rivers, running multiple projects including large scale trapping around rivers and also bird recovery programmes. DOC works collaboratively with universities and crown research institutes to identify and facilitate research projects, and in conjunction with stakeholders including ECan and BRaid.

The ‘research and more information’ sections on most pages on this website include links to relevant  DOC reports.
